SELF-GUIDED PRACTICE

How to practice

  1. Choose a simple, stable object at eye level, such as a candle, stone, mark on the wall, or plant.
  2. Sit upright at a comfortable distance so the eyes do not strain.
  3. Rest the gaze on the object with natural blinking and a relaxed forehead, jaw, and neck.
  4. Notice color, outline, light, shadow, and texture without analyzing the object.
  5. When attention drifts, return to seeing the object rather than tightening the eyes.
  6. If the eyes water, ache, or the head feels tense, blink more, soften the gaze, or pause.
  7. Keep the session short at first, especially if you are sensitive to visual focus.
  8. Finish by closing or lowering the eyes briefly and feeling the after-effect in the body.

Stay comfortable. You can stop at any time or return to your natural breath.
